Colorful perennial that welcomes the heat and humidity
Gaillardias or Blanket Flower
are native of the prairies, thus their resiliency and high powered performance

How to Plant/Grow Gaillardia
Gaillardias
love a sunny spot in the perennial
garden. Gaillardias will do well in
normal soil that is well drained.
Once established, Gaillardias can
tolerate drier areas of the garden and does not require a lot of water to
flower well.
Dig a hole about 12-18" inches
deep in a sunny or part shaded location. Add peat moss to your planting area if
needed. Remove plant from pot and place
in hole and fill in. The top of the soil
ball should be even with the soil line. Water well. Give your perennial bed about 1 inch of water
a week, particularly in newly planted areas.
Maintenance
Gaillardias are a low
maintenance perennial. Deadheading is
beneficial for continual bloom, although Gaillardias will continue to bloom
well without deadheading.
