Chameleon Houttuynia is a fast spreading, moisture loving groundcover that thrives from full sun to full shade.
Houttuynia grows aggressively and spreads quickly by underground rhizomes. Plants grow so vigorously they will need to be restrained by concrete barriers to restrict spread.
Houttuynia is easily grown in moist to dry soils in full sun to part shade. Chameleon features green leaves with shades of red, pink, yellow and/or cream on bright red stems and stay attractive from spring thru fall. Small greenish white flowers on 1 foot spikes in spring.
Grow in containers in a waterside setting, where plants can be submerged up to 2" above the crowns.
Plant this indistructable groundcover as an underplanting to taller Shrubs such as Hydrangeas or Japanses Maples.

About Houttuynia
Houttuynia is a medium sized herbaceous perennial groundcover that spreads vigorously by underground stolons. The variegated foliage has green leaves with red, bronze, cream & yellow. The foliage has a strong pungent scent when crushed. Small white flowers appear in early summer.
Houttuynia can be used as an edging plant, near or in waterside plantings. It should only be used in an area where the roots can be restricted due to its aggressive growth habit. Houttuynia goes dormant in the winter.
