Ideas and How-to's
Recommended for You:
Soil: Average, medium moisture, well-drained soil. An adaptable shrub that tolerates a wide range of soils except for wet, poorly-drained ones
Light: Full sun to part shade. Tolerates close to full shade, but usually at the expense of diminished fall color, (where growth is less vigorous and fall color is a mixture of pink-red and faded yellow).
Water: Average -- Plants appreciate consistent moisture, particularly when grown in full sun locations.
Spacing: 9 - 11 feet
Fertilizing: Can mulch with compost, or apply a timed release fertilizer (such as "Osmotcote") in the spring.
Winterizing: No specific care needed
Maintenance & Pruning: Can prune in spring or early summer to shape the shrub. Plants that are older, too large and/or over sheared will respond well to rejuvenation pruning in early Spring (severe pruning from 0.5' to 2' above the ground), having relatively few stems the first year, but branching out nicely in the second and subsequent years.
ReviewsWrite a reviewSurprized in size.Antonio D | May 12, 2014My order just arrived yesterday, and I just had to write and thank you. No only was the delivery prompt and very well packed, but the vivaciousness of the plants themselvers made opening each mox a pleasant surprise. Everything was fresh enough to practically walk out of the box on their own, and the soil and root balls were still quite moist, which seems to have all but eliminated any shipping trauma. I'm already looking forward to my next order...as soon as my spouse lets me have the credit card back. :))
