Aralia Sun King is a bold plant with a shrublike appearance that will lend a tropical air to the shade garden.
This deerproof shade perennial will provide 3 seasons of color. Bold, bright gold leaflets are held horizontally giving the plant a totally unique look. Provide Sun King about 2-3 hours minimum of sun a day to retain its glowing yellow foliage.
Originating from Japan, Aralia is virtually trouble free, however it is a frost tender plant.
In late summer, small cluster of white flowers are followed by decorative purple berries.

Recommended for You:
Soil: Moist, fertile, humusy, well-drained soils. Tolerant of a wide range of soils and PH levels. Drought can cause leaf burn, and early dormancy.
Light: Part shade. Providing it gets a few hours of sun daily, the foliage will remain bright gold throughout the summer. In full shade, foliage will be chartreuse to lime green in colour.
Water: Moderate moisture needs
Spacing: Plant 3-6 feet apart. Site in locations protected from strong winds to protect the foliage.
Fertilizing: Appy a slow release fertilizer such as Osmocote in spring.Winterizing: Each winter, Aralia cordata ‘Sun King’ dies to the ground. Then it returns the next spring bigger and better than the year before.
