Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

Ordered five plants all together, came nicely shipped. The plants were a nice size and looked healthy. Three of my plants were supposed to be for sun/shade. I only planted one in the shade and it looks dead. When I contacted the company, they wanted a ridiculous amount of information just to refund or replace the plant.

Plants arrived in great condition. Easy to plant plugs. Very satisfied with our choice.
I first bought this wonderful ground cover during the summer of 2022 because it was described as an attractive spreading plant which also crowds out those nasty weeds in my rock garden. Well, the plants arrived in good shape and performed as stated. This summer, I added the set of bugleweed plugs to fill in over the balance of the rock garden. Happily, the plugs arrived and these were not little, sad-looking specimens; they were substantial plantlets that started growing immediately once planted! I love the texture, coloring and spreading habit of these plants and must say that all plants that I order from Great Gardens have thrived in my garden and I am not a particularly skilled gardener!

Planted spring of 2022 as well as 2023. They have surprised me as to how much they have grown in that time. I couldn't be happier.
I ordered these to fill in an open area along the side of our garage. They are growing and spreading well and seem to be thriving.
