Plant Spacing

Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:

Way smaller than expected, but growing

Ordered the 1 qt plants because that was all that was in stock. I was shocked at how tiny they were! But, I put them in the ground in May and 4 months later they have definitely grown and all 3 have their 1st flowers. Hopefully they bulk up a little next year. (Excuse the weeds - haven’t done a fall clean up yet!)

I ordered two pink dwarf lilac bushes. They were tiny and both died. Not sure what the issue was. I have other dwarf boomerang lilac bushes and they are doing great.

Well, out of all the last plants I bought and that was a big order to me, 4 plants died. I did not keep my order # so I couldn't write back about them. The beginning of the season the plants are very healthy, at the end of the season they are not so healthy. I will not be purchasing anymore plants from you in the future, sorry.

Hoping for a Pink Lilac

The Bloomerang arrived on 7/15 and has been staying indoors with plenty o0f water for the required 48 hour period. I took a picture but it won’t download on here. So far so good. She will be planted outside tomorrow in a wooden tub with wire around it to protect from the neighborhood deer.
