Plant Spacing

Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:

Double white flowers start blooming before leaves emerge, but even in full leaf, the flowers are hard to miss. The flowers start lime green and transition to a soft white as they mature. Thankfully - you'll have plenty of time to enjoy its flowers, as it's one of the longest-blooming quinces on the market. It starts its show in early spring and continues to bloom freely until early fall. Enjoy its floriferous display as a hedge, specimen, or mixed border.

The Double Take™ series of flowering quince comprises non-fruiting deciduous shrubs that bloom before their leaves unfold. You'll love that there are no thorny branches to deal with. Old fashion quince shrubs produced small sharp thorns, often growing a towering 10-12 feet tall. Double Take White™ is pleasantly compact at only 4-5 feet, making it ideal for small gardens. I adore white, so after taking out 3 huge redwoods in my backyard 5 years ago, I've been making a moonlight garden. White crepe myrtle trees, and 300+ plants and I'm almost done, maybe! A white 3 season blooming quince has just put me over the moon with plant lust, and my favorite affordable size 4 inches. I've planted one in the backyard, and potted up one for next spring under my bay window. Can't wait for mother nature to do her magic
