Description
Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

Weigela is a deciduous shrub that has quickly become one of the most popular landscape plants on the market today. It’s easy to see why it’s so popular: weigela is easy to grow, deer-resistant, versatile, and has vibrant blooms that attract pollinators like a magnet. Here, we’ll show you how to grow and care for weigela shrubs and answer your frequently asked questions.
They were smaller than we expected but so far they are looking healthier since planting
I received well branched plants in good shape. After planting in mostly sun with some light afternoon shade they are doing well in my zone 5a. I ordered more when I saw how well they performed.I also ordered 1 my monet weigela but it died after a week. I am very happy with the sunset ones and will see how well they survive over winter. I have order over 40 plants from Great Garden Plants this spring and summer and all are thriving except for one that did not make it, I have mail ordered from various sources over the years but none can compare to the size, condition and packaging of the plants I received from this company.
