Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

Unfortunately this and one other plant in my order had multiple broken branches. It was disappointing, but I did have one plant in good shape.

I liked them so much I purchased more. Next year they will give me earlier blooms for my hummingbirds !
I ordered these last year and loved them. However, they did not come back in the Spring. So I re-ordered them again for this year. Waiting to see if they come back next year. If they do, I will buy more.

Just received 3 of these today, shipped well like all my other orders from Great Garden Plants. I was so impressed with the root structure of the plants I got that I stopped what I was doing while planting to grab my phone and take a picture for this review. So far so good!
I bought these flowers to place in my flower bed that have wet soil. I haven’t had a lot of luck with other plants In there BUT the Cardinal flowers I planted are doing very well and getting bigger every day. I am very happy with them.
