Soil: Prefers well-drained locations. Can take a bit of dryness, but blooms last longest if it does not dry out in spring.
Light: Full sun (6+ hrs/day) is best; part shade (4-6 hrs/day) is okay, especially in warmer areas.
Space: 1.5 feet apart
Fertilizing: Fertilizer is not needed.
Winterizing: No special treatment is required, but 2-3" of mulch can be applied around base to prevent drying out.
Maintenance: Blooms on old wood, which means that any pruning should be done after bloom. If plants become thin and scraggly, cut back to just a few inches high after bloom for a flush of lush new growth.
