Gaura 'Siskiyou Pink' Description

Magical & soothing blooms flutter like butterflies!

Imagine your garden full of fluttering butterflies!  All it takes is a slight breeze for hundreds of tiny pink butterfly-like flowers to dance with the slightest of breeze.   Tall stalks with small delicate flowers reach skywards from a base of green foliage giving the plant an airy appearance.  You'll get to enjoy this for up to 3 months (early summer into fall).   Siskiyou Pink starts out white then darkens as the season progresses. Thrives despite heat, humidity while beckoning bees and butterflies.

How to grow gaura

Easy to grow with low water needs, Siskiyou Pink grow 24-36" tall and 18" wide.  It appreciates a sunny located in well drained soil (they may not survive the winter if the area is too wet) . Great for containers too with their arching presence add texture interest to any pots.

Garden design

Highly versatile in the landscape. They are the most magnificent when you plant them in groupings of 3 or more so the small flowers can have the most impact.  Try interspersing with a low growing groundcover such as Ajuga Chocolate Chip where you can enjoy their lively moving blooms. With their long blooming season, they work well near an entryway where they can add color to foundation shrubs. Delightful when planted along a sunny sidewalk where you can intersperse them with other perennials or annuals.  They soften up boulders and hardscapes and combine well with bold leaf plants such as hostas, bergenia.   Be sure to have some you can cut for your fresh bouquets.

Light: Full sun. Part shade in southern climates
Water: After establishment, water occasionally during the hot season.
Spacing: 18-24 inches

Maintenance & pruning: Many perennials will continue to bloom much longer if pinched or deadheaded once the blooms are past. Maintaining a lovely perennial garden will be quicker and easier if done once a week!
