Heuchera Forever® Red Description
AVAILABLE SPRING 2020!
Ignite your garden with the fiery, brilliant hues of Forever Red heuchera. This new coral bells introduction is one of the best we've seen on the market to date.
Heucheras are colorful perennial shade groundcover foliage plants. Forever Red has a low mounding habit reaching only 7" tall with ruffled, somewhat cut leaves. Although smaller in size to other red forms, it develops more crowns for a fuller look in the garden.
Cooler temperatures (early spring and fall) bring out a deep, iconic red lipstick color. But it holds it own in heat & humidity, outshining many other coral bells that fade out.
Special features we think you'll adore about this shade loving gem:
Color fast foliage
Vigorous crowning habit
Greater tolerance of sun exposure
Foliage color is one of the secrets to long lasting color in the shade garden providing up to 3 seasons of interest while withstanding the rigors of heat & humidity in the summer garden. This shade loving perennial require almost no little maintenance or work on your part, and will live for many years as long as you provide good drainage.
In late spring, slender stems of pink flowers rise up to 14", attracting hummingbirds and butterflies.
This low maintenance shade plant will thrive in moist, well-drained soil. They are not troubled by pests or diseases.
Stunning in combination planters, mixed beds, or planted in masses. This eye-catching foliage color is stunning with spring flowering violas, hellebores, yellow hostas, or hydrangeas.

Soil: Coral bells like a neutral to slightly acid soil pH, somewhere between 6.0 and 7.0. Good drainage is a must, especially in shaded areas. They do well in soil where some organic matter has been added.
Light: As a general rule, heucheras do well in shade, but for the highly colored varieties, some morning sun will bring out more intense coloring. The color can wash out in full sun, and too much heat and light can cause the leaves to scorch.
Water: Average -- better too dry than too wet when established. Keep the soil evenly moist, but not consistently wet to prevent root rot. To reduce the risk of foliar disease, heuchera require watering during the early morning so any excess moisture can evaporate before evening. Drip irrigation effectively delivers moisture directly to the soil, further reducing the plant's vulnerability to disease.
Spacing: 1.5 ft
Fertilizing: Use good quality compost, or well aged livestock manure, or a combination of the two. Apply a few pounds for each plant, each year or two. On poor soils, top dress every year, or every other year on moderate quality soils. Spreading a 2-inch layer of mulch over the soil surrounding Heuchera helps insulate the soil during winter, and improve moisture retention. About 3 inches of space between the plant's crown and the mulch allows air circulation, which prevents rotting and disease. Replenishing the mulch throughout the year ensures proper winter protection and hinders the establishment of competitive weeds. Heuchera does not require fertilization during the fall or winter months.
Winterizing: Winter mulching will prevent the freezing and thawing that can heave plants roots.
Maintenance & pruning: Cut back the entire flower stalk after flowering to put the plants energy into growing more leaves. Divide Coral bells every 3-5 years to keep them from dying out in the center.

The plants I received from your company were packed extremely well and were actually very nice plants.
