Lonicera 'Scentsation' Description

Cover your deck, patio, or fence with the colorful blooms of ‘Scentsation’ honeysuckle (Lonicera periclymenum). This vigorous vine twines around any structure and explodes into hundreds of trumpet-shaped golden blooms in early summer. They last for several weeks and are followed by bright red berries, but don’t worry – ‘Scentsation’ is a non-invasive honeysuckle. You’ll be able to enjoy its abundant blooms and all of the hummingbirds and butterflies it attracts without worrying about it spreading. Another excellent, useful shrub from Proven Winners!

Soil:  Moist but well-drained soils are best. Can tolerate some dryness once established.
Light: Full sun (6+ hrs/day).
Water:  Average.
Space:  Spacing depends on your goals for the plant, but each one should be allowed to climb freely on a sturdy support.
Fertilizing:  Little needed. If desired, fertilize in early spring, once the ground has thawed, with a granular rose fertilizer. A second application may be made in late spring/early summer as well.
Winterizing:  A good 2-3" layer of mulch is recommended.
Maintenance:  Little pruning is required, as this plant should be allowed to cover the desired structure. Any wayward stems can be snipped off as desired.
