Description
Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

Arrives as young plant
Lots of the most beloved fragrant plants bloom in spring and early summer; they’re the perfect way to welcome back the growing season and the return of spending time outdoors. We’re sharing some of our all-time favorite fragrant plants in spring here. Plant them and create your own fragrant memories this season!
The plants are tiny and frail.
We’re sorry you’re not satisfied with your plants! On each product page and our plant sizes page, we note that all of our plants are young. The size of our plants varies depending on the time of year and whether they were recently trimmed. The most important thing when purchasing plants, online or in garden centers, is a full and robust root system, which we prioritize. Trimming only encourages stronger root development! If you're seeing any issues with growth, please contact our customer service team, and they will assist you in the best way possible. Thank you for your feedback.
Followed all instructions for planting and there has been no growth at all. I don't think they're dead (yet) but I'm not impressed with my plants.
The plant was tiny but very healthy upon arrival. I ordered 3 and they are all growing well even gave me some beautiful little purple blooms! I definitely love Abelia and gladly to have this plant at my garden!
The Funshine Abelia that I ordered to replace shrubs lost in the severe winter freeze in Texas, arrived in good shape although they were extremely small for what I paid for them. They are in the ground now for over a month and thriving, growing bigger and even blooming!
The Funshine Abelia looked so good.. I ordered another. Every plant I have ordered from Great Gardens has arrived healthy and is doing well. Plants are packaged so well that there is no way they could be damaged in shipping.
