Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

Enjoy these bushes. They look great. I expected them to be a bit bigger and fuller
Hello! Thank you for leaving us feedback. We are sorry to hear that you're unsatisfied. Our customer service team would love to hear from you. We do note that all of our plants are young on each product page and on our plant sizes page. The size and maturity of the plants varies widely depending on the time of the year you purchased and if they were recently trimmed. The important thing when it comes to purchasing plants, whether online or in a garden center, is that they have a full, robust root system, and that's what we prioritize in our greenhouses. The more roots a plant has, the more energy it can put into growing once it is planted in your garden. We do keep our plants trimmed to encourage strong root development!
Rest assured, we have a guarantee on all of our plants. Happy Gardening!
I was disappointed with the size of plant. Again, for the price and shipping it is not worth it.
I'm sorry you are not satisfied with your plants!

I gotta be honest, I was a little leery about ordering bushes online. But when they came in, they look better than everything I had seen in stores locally! They were package extremely well, and we’re not damage at all. I let them sit out at room, temperature of the sun for a couple days as directed, and planted them, and they are doing fantastic!
I think that many of us have had (or possibly still *have*) that recurring problem spot in our garden ... the one where plants seem to do well for a short time, however they never thrive and ultimately bite the dust. Having addressed the environment, I knew my problem spot couldn't be the soil, my watering habits, etc., and so I was looking for a shrub that could handle SE exposure, harsh southern sun, adapt to clay soil, and look great while doing so. So far, the Sunjoy Citrus Barberry seems to be the answer! It resists sun-scorch, is adaptable to many soil types, and is color-fast to a brilliant chartreuse (natural, not necessarily radiant) which enlivens the garden space. I'm curious to see how it holds up through my Zone 7a southern summer, but I am impressed thus far!
Quality plants, doing very well.
