Callicarpa Pearl Glam® Description

Pearl Glam® beautybush (Callicarpa sp.) truly lives up to its name, with dramatic dark purple foliage, bright white flowers, and thousands of orchid-pink berries in autumn. The color combination looks beautiful all season long, but is especially stunning among the reds and yellows of autumn. Most beautybush selections have plain green foliage, but the purple leaves of this special Proven Winners selection set it apart. It also has an upright habit that saves space compared to conventional varieties. Outstanding deer resistance!

Special features: Fall interest, Colorful foliage, Deer resistant, Cut flower

Soil:  Beautybush is tolerant of a wide range of soil and tolerates drought once established (after 1-2 seasons in the ground).
Light: Full sun (6+ hrs/day).
Water:  Moderate water is all that's required
Space:  min. 5' apart
Fertilizing:  Little fertilizer is needed. If little new growth emerges in spring, a bit of granular rose fertilizer can help it rebound more quickly.
Winterizing:  A 2-3" layer of shredded bark mulch is a good idea in winter, especially in colder parts of its range. Leave plant intact over winter.
Maintenance:  Wait until new growth begins to emerge in spring to determine whether or not pruning is required. Plant may experience some dieback in cold climates, so cut above where new growth is emerging. May be pruned in spring in warm climates as well since it blooms and fruits on new wood.

I was amazed that " guarantee" actually MEANT guarantee; there was absolutely NO trouble/issue with replacing dying/dead transplants! I was very pleased at the excellent customer service: they worked with me to co-ordinate shipping of replacements and cancelling my over-lapping re-order. My 6 replacement transplants arrived today, thoroughly packaged for shipping; as with the originals, they are healthy, well grown with good root systems. They are beginning MY acclimation to the harsh NC full sun growing conditions they will face. How can I post pictures?
Owner Response: Hello! So glad you are enjoying your plants! You can send pictures to our customer service email and we would love to post them on our site or blog. -- Management

The paperwork stated that these plants were acclimated and, after 1-2 days in the shade recovering to shipping, they were ready to be planted in the garden (beautyberry plants are full sun plants) They were NOT acclimated to full sun!!! The row of plants are now crispy critters, excepting for the 3 on the end which are in part shade. I've had to buy replacements for those 6 dead plants. . . . you can BET *I* will acclimate these before planting!
Owner Response: Good Morning - I see you spoke to one of our customer service reps, Amy. Please send pictures of the dead plants and we will gladly set up a refund. -- Management
