Delosperma Hot Cakes® 'Pumpkin Perfection' Description

Pumpkin spice isn't just for autumn anymore - Hot Cakes Pumpkin Perfection delosperma brings a whole new dimension to the summer garden!

Hardy ice plants (Delosperma sp.) are known for their bright, pure colors and outstanding performance in hot, sunny spots. The Hot Cakes series takes even that to a whole new level, with intense color and a neat and tidy habit that covers the ground in a lush carpet of succulent green foliage graced with blooms all summer long. We adore the juicy bright orange of this variety, on its own or paired with any of the other six fabulous colors in this series developed by renown succulent breeder Chris Hansen.

How to grow:

  • Plant in full sun - at least six hours a day
  • Well drained soil is a must; dry, sandy, or gravelly soils are no problem at all!
  • Avoid cold, wet conditions and heavy soil
  • Once established, will rarely need watering
  • Not bothered by insects, pests, or diseases
  • Zero maintenance needed - they don't even need to be cut back

Designing with ice plants

Ice plants get their name from the tiny, glistening, crystal-like glands that cover their succulent leaves. Between this charming feature and their tropical-colored blooms, you'll want to plant them where you can enjoy them. They work nicely in rock gardens, along pathways, bordering walkways or driveways, or in any sunny spot that rarely gets water. Also try mixing them with other hardy succulents in a container.

Special features: Deer resistant, Disease resistant, Drought tolerant, Easy care, Evergreen, Fast growing, Fall color, Heat tolerant, Pest resistant, Tolerates foot traffic
