Delosperma Hot Cakes® 'Banana Blast' Description

Between the sunny yellow color, neat blooms, and ease of growth, Hot Cakes Banana Blast ice plant will never fail to make you smile. 

There's so much to love about these improved hardy ice plants (Delosperma). Truly beautiful problem solvers, these hardy outdoor succulents love hot, sunny, dry spots, are unbothered by deer and rabbits, and are covered with delightfully bright and cheery flowers all summer long. The Hot Cakes series represents a new generation of hardy ice plant with super colorful, shimmering blooms all summer long and tight, dense habits that look great and crowd out weeds.  Count on Hot Cakes ice plants to flower more and look tidier than other types on the market. Take your pick of six fabulous colors, and mix or match. You'll be glad you planted Hot Cakes delosperma!

How to grow:

  • Plant in full sun - at least six hours a day
  • Well drained soil is a must; dry, sandy, or gravelly soils are no problem at all!
  • Avoid cold, wet conditions and heavy soil
  • Once established, will rarely need watering
  • Not bothered by insects, pests, or diseases
  • Zero maintenance needed - they don't even need to be cut back

Designing with ice plants

Ice plants get their name from the tiny, glistening, crystal-like glands that cover their succulent leaves. Between this charming feature and their tropical-colored blooms, you'll want to plant them where you can enjoy them. They work nicely in rock gardens, along pathways, bordering walkways or driveways, or in any sunny spot that rarely gets water. Also try mixing them with other hardy succulents in a container.
