Delosperma Hot Cakes® 'Tangerine Tango' Description

A flowering groundcover like none other, Hot Cakes Tangerine Tango ice plant brightens the summer with brilliant orange blooms.

Every garden could use a little orange - it goes beautifully with blues, greens, yellow, and everything in between. May we suggest Hot Cakes Tangerine Tango hardy ice plant (Delosperma sp.) as the orange flower for your garden? All you need is a sunny, fast-draining spot and this improved ice plant for a summer full of blooms. Try this luscious color on its own or mix and match it with the other fabulous colors in the Hot Cakes series. These outstanding drought resistant, deer resistant plants were developed by renown succulent breeder Chris Hansen.

How to grow:

  • Plant in full sun - at least six hours a day
  • Well drained soil is a must; dry, sandy, or gravelly soils are no problem at all!
  • Avoid cold, wet conditions and heavy soil
  • Once established, will rarely need watering
  • Not bothered by insects, pests, or diseases
  • Zero maintenance needed - they don't even need to be cut back

Designing with ice plants

Ice plants get their name from the tiny, glistening, crystal-like glands that cover their succulent leaves. Between this charming feature and their tropical-colored blooms, you'll want to plant them where you can enjoy them. They work nicely in rock gardens, along pathways, bordering walkways or driveways, or in any sunny spot that rarely gets water. Also try mixing them with other hardy succulents in a container.

Special features: Deer resistant, Disease resistant, Drought tolerant, Easy care, Evergreen, Fast growing, Fall color, Heat tolerant, Pest resistant, Tolerates foot traffic
