Festuca Boulder Blue Description
One of the most beautiful and eye-catching of all Ornamental Grasses, Boulder Blue Festuca thrives in almost any garden condition!
Discovered in Colorado, Boulder Blue has a much brighter steel-blue foliage color than the more commonly available Elijah Blue. This hardy, perennial grass forms tufts of metallic-blue fine foliage from early spring through late fall & even into winter.
Festuca Boulder Blue takes intense heat & drought without losing its blue color, and makes the perfect addition to patio/deck container gardens. Loves good drainage.

Soil: Average garden soil -- is not particular as to soil type or pH. It is highly tolerant of urban pollution, and will even thrive in inner city environments.
Light: Full - Part Sun -- To obtain the best foliage color plant in full sun.
Water: It prefers to grow in average to dry locations, and dislikes excessive moisture.
Spacing: 18 inches
Fertilizing: Fertilize ornamental grasses in spring with a balanced fertilizer. We don't recommend, however, fertilizing them their first spring to allow the roots enough time to settle in before having to support their very lush top growth.
Winterizing: No specific care needed. No need to cut back for winter.
Maintenance & Pruning: "Rake out" with rake or fingers all spent foliage in early spring before it resumes active growth for the season. Division should be done in spring every few years to keep Festuca at its best.
