Hydrangea Annabelle Description
Even gardeners in Minnesota can be successful with this colorful Goliath of a Hydrangea!
Although many of the blue & red type Hydrangeas fail to bloom in the colder regions, Annabelle Hydrangea never misses a show.
This queen of the Hydrangeas blooms on both old & new growth, so even the killing winters of North Dakota won't keep this flowering shrub from creating a jaw-dropping show!
This Hydrangea was discovered in an Anna, Illinois garden & has become a favorite of American gardeners with its huge 12" flower heads which make ideal cut flowers.
Garden design enthusiasts are also appreciate the usefulness of this hybrid whether as a hedge plant, single specimen, or even a foundation plant up near the house!
Hydrangeas are continuing to take the flowering shrub world by storm. They are widely adaptable to both clay & sandy soil provided they are given copious amounts of water during the prolonged summer dry spells.
Almost all Hydrangeas thrive under morning sun with protection from the intense afternoon sun.

Soil: Average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Mulch to conserve moisture, and buffer soil temperatures.

Water: Water to keep soil moist, but not wet. Spacing: 4 - 6 feet
Fertilizing: Fertilize once in spring with a fertilizer designed to encourage blooms (such as 15-30-15).
Winterizing: Remove and destroy any fallen foliage that was infected by powdery mildew. If desired, wrap H. macrophylla varieties with burlap, or other material to help flower buds overwinter in colder climates.
Maintenance & Pruning: Blooms on new wood, so can be pruned in the fall, winter, or spring. However, it is not necessary to prune them every year. It is suggested that one trim out crossing branches and those that do not contribute to an attractive form whenever necessary.
ReviewsWrite a reviewWonderful plants.Kristen DeP | Jun 30, 2015I just wanted to thank you for the amazing and beautiful, excellent quality plants I received from you. The front of my home faces northand I can never find beautiful shade plants in my local nurseries. The only mildly interesting plants I could ever find were Hostas. That is,until I find your website! I was so shocked that so many beautiful plants and flowers were available for shade! I've ordered plants online before and have always been disappointed. Ieither receive bare root plants that are dead by the time I receive them, or they're packaged so badly they arrive crushed and mangled, or they're so tiny they rarely take and when they do it takes forever to grow into something you can see. I was so shocked and surprised how beautiful the plants were that you shipped me! They were packaged really well, they were established, they were moist and in awesome condition! Thank you so much for providing such quality plants! You have earned yourself a customer for life! Keep up the great work and know that your efforts are appreciated. I feel it's important to let companies know when they're doing a great job and you guys are doing a STELLAR job. (And I've told ALL my friends and neighbors about your site!)
Lovely Hydrangeas!Adrienne V | Jun 29, 2014I ordered from you for the first time, and I needed to send you this email to tell you how pleased I am with my purchase of 14 hydrangeas. I have never been so impressed with mail order nursery stock-- your packaging was EXCELLENT. The plants are LARGE and HEALTHY, and arrived in perfect condition despite being shipped during end-of-June heat. The careful packaging just floored me!!!! I can;t wait too spread the word to my plant-loving friends about your business, and I canl' wait to order again! THANK YOU!!!!
