Nepeta 'Walker's Low' Description
'Walkers Low' catmint (Nepeta x faassenii) is one of the longest blooming perennials on the market, providing months of purple-blue flowers. Because it is resistant to drought and deer, this sun-loving perennial is super easy to grow!
The performance begins in late spring when a profusion of fragrant, trumpet-shaped lavender- blue flowers burst into bloom over neat mounds of grey-green foliage.
Vigorous and dependable, 'Walker's Low' blooms for months on end. Count on this long-time favorite to look great even in hot, dry conditions.
Pruning or shearing is not required, but a light trim after the initial bloom encourages another wave of color mid to late summer
Nepetas are not fussy about soil as long it is well-drained. Foolproof and easy, growing up to 2-3' tall and wide.
An award winning perennial with lots of practical application in the sun perennial garden. Beautiful on its own or when combined with roses, boxwood, or butterfly bush.

PLANTING GUIDE
Soil: Easily grown in average, dry to medium, well-drained soil. Thrives in dry soils, and is very drought tolerant.
Light: Full sun to part shade -- Full sun is best in the North. Somewhat intolerant of the heat and humidity of the deep South, and appreciates some afternoon shade in hot climates.
Water: Dry to medium
Spacing: 2 - 3 feet
Fertilizing: In average soil, needs almost no fertilizer. Too much fertilizer will only make it grow lots of flimsy foliage. In poor soil, some compost in fall or spring, or a very light scattering of slow release fertilizer in early spring will provide sufficient nutrients to keep the plant happy.
Winterizing: Leave spent foliage in place over winter to help protect the crown. Wait until early spring to cut it back.
Maintenance & pruning: Shear flower spikes after initial flowering to promote continued bloom. Can shear plant foliage back to keep it from becoming too leggy. Divide in spring if necessary.Reviews
Write a reviewDeer love them!milc | Sep 5, 2020The deer in our area love them and eat them selectively. I was looking for deer resistant plants and chose this plant, so I am very disappointed. I was using deer repellent too, but didn't work. Maybe this plant is not deer resistant at all.
recently brought this plant based on previous reviewsTara Johnson | Aug 6, 2020I recently purchase this plant and as the previous person posted, it was based off of old reviews. My plant is dying. I would not recommend.Owner Response: Please contact our Customer Service Department 877-447-4769 - Looks like you are still covered under warranty. - Management
Not growingAndy Duncan | Jul 21, 2020All other reviews talk about reliability and how fast they grow. They are older reviews and evidently something has changed with these plants. I have lost 2 out of 3 plants and the one surviving plant has not grown at all. Do not recommend.
reliable!michelle | Jul 8, 2018I've had my 4 plants for several years now, they are the most reliable plants in my garden! Every season they grow so quickly, they are huge. They are really good at keeping weeds out of their space, the perfect plant for the lazy gardener, and/or the gardener who doesn't know what they are doing. (Me and me)
Wonderful plants.Kristen DeP | Jun 30, 2015I just wanted to thank you for the amazing and beautiful, excellent quality plants I received from you. The front of my home faces northand I can never find beautiful shade plants in my local nurseries. The only mildly interesting plants I could ever find were Hostas. That is,until I find your website! I was so shocked that so many beautiful plants and flowers were available for shade! I've ordered plants online before and have always been disappointed. Ieither receive bare root plants that are dead by the time I receive them, or they're packaged so badly they arrive crushed and mangled, or they're so tiny they rarely take and when they do it takes forever to grow into something you can see. I was so shocked and surprised how beautiful the plants were that you shipped me! They were packaged really well, they were established, they were moist and in awesome condition! Thank you so much for providing such quality plants! You have earned yourself a customer for life! Keep up the great work and know that your efforts are appreciated. I feel it's important to let companies know when they're doing a great job and you guys are doing a STELLAR job. (And I've told ALL my friends and neighbors about your site!)
Great Plants!!Cheryl M | Jun 20, 2015I just received another great shipment from you…having moved to a new property I have bought a lot of plants, but what you sell , the size, and shipping are the best. I am a loyal customer.
Great Plants!!Cheryl B. | Mar 31, 2015I was so pleased with the plants that I ordered from you. They were larger than I expected and so healthy! I was not able to plant them right away due to a cold snap, and they remained in excellent condition until I was able to plant them. They are all growing well. I would recommend your plants to everyone and will definitely order from you again
Spectacular Nepeta Walker's LowLeah K | Jul 31, 2014Just wanted to let you know that all of my plants are doing very well. We placed a rather large order that arrived in the beginning of July. Only one plant did not make it and you were quick to correct that by sending us a new one. All of my nepeta walkers low are doing fantastic. The ones facing the north have grown 3 times the size that they were in only 1 month. They are covered in purple blooms already too. I water everything every day and watch all of my beautiful plants continue to grow bigger and bigger. I can’t wait to see how big they get next summer.
