Helleborus Wedding Ruffles (Double White) Description

Gardeners have spent years searching for the RARE Double-Flowered white Hellebore!

Giant, 3" double white flowers and tremendous garden performance makes this one of the best Deer Proof Shade Plants

From Breeder Chris Hansen, who has been carefully hand-crossing Hellebores for over 20 years to arrive at true color strains from seed.  He is also ruthless in his program, and only the most vigorous stock plants are used in the hybridizing process.

You'll get twice the flower show with these double-petaled Shade Plants.  We've found that the double-flowered Hellebores tend to remain showy for a much longer period in your garden than the single Hellebores.

Wedding Ruffles Hellebores begin their perennial flower show in late winter, and continue through the spring season.  Once the blooms have finished, fresh new foliage emerges providing three more seasons of interest in the perennial garden.

This adaptable drought proof ground cover for shade thrives in both clay and sandy soils, and is not bothered by pests or diseases.

This member of the Ranunculus family is a very long lived perennial that has proven to be 100% Deer Proof across the United States!

Combine with colorful Heucheras, gold foliage Hostas, or large flowering Hydrangeas.

Special Features: Cold Hardy, Cut Flower, Deer Resistant, Disease Resistant, Drought Tolerant, Easy Care, Evergreen, Heat Tolerant, Long Blooming, Multi-Seasonal Interest, Pest Resistant, Rabbit Resistant, Winter Interest

Soil: Best grown in organically rich, humus, well-drained soils amended with plenty of organic matter, such as well-aged leaf mold and compost. Prefers a soil that is neural to slightly alkaline. Add lime if your soil is extremely acid.
Light: Part shade to full shade
Water: Drought-tolerant once established, Hellebores are at their best in evenly moist soil in partial shade. Water well during extended dry periods.
Spacing: 1.5 - 2 ft. - Locate plants in areas protected from cold winter winds. Although the foliage is evergreen, it may become scorched and tattered in extremely harsh winters, particularly if not sited in locations protected from cold winter winds and/or insulated by snow cover.
Fertilizing: Plants will benefit from a light application of granular, balanced fertilizer, or side-dressing of compost and organic amendments when new growth appears in spring.
Winterizing: Do not prune back for winter; a light mulch of salt marsh hay may be beneficial. Prune back old foliage in spring to make room for new growth.
Maintenance & Pruning: Cut back flowering stems after bloom to promote new foliage growth. Plants may be slow to settle in, once they do, they rarely need division and may resent it.
