Heuchera Lime Ruffles Description
Radiant warm lime green foliage of Lime Ruffles Heuchera add pops of happy color to your shade garden lasting up to 9 months of the year.
The Ruffles™ Series was bred using Heuchera villosa which is known for ultra large leaves and superb heat & sun tolerance.
Lime Ruffles Coral Bells form vigorous growing mounds of lime green leaves with frosty white. The leaves are exceptionally large and ruffled. It is as luminous as a June moon when used as a groundcover for shady areas.
Lime Ruffles make neat and tidy mounds to 12" tall and 18" wide. Why not add pops of yellow to give life to a dark and dreary spot in your shade garden?
Foliage color is one of the secrets to long lasting color in the shade garden. Heucheras provide up to 3 seasons of interest and withstand the rigors of heat & humidity in the summer garden. This shade loving groundcover requires little maintenance or work on your part and will live for many years as long as you provide good drainage.
In late spring, slender stems of white flowers rise up to 14" attracting hummingbirds and butterflies.
Heucheras are a low maintenance groundcover that thrives in moist, well-drained soil. They can take full sun in cool climates, part shade in warm ones.
They are a workhorse in combination planters, and are stunning in mixed perennial border or pair with dark hued Coral Bells, bold-leafed Hostas, mixed flowering Hellebore, or Hydrangeas.

Ideas and How-to's
Recommended for You:
Soil: Coral bells like a neutral to slightly acid soil pH, somewhere between 6.0 and 7.0. Good drainage is a must, especially in shaded areas. They do well in soil where some organic matter has been added.
Light: As a general rule, Heucheras do well in shade, but for the highly colored varieties, some morning sun will bring out more intense coloring. The color can wash out in full sun, and too much heat and light can cause the leaves to scorch.
Water: Average -- better too dry than too wet when established. Keep the soil evenly moist but not consistently wet to prevent root rot. To reduce the risk of foliar disease, Heuchera require watering during the early morning so any excess moisture can evaporate before evening. Drip irrigation effectively delivers moisture directly to the soil, further reducing the plant's vulnerability to disease.
Spacing: 1.5 ft
Fertilizing: Use good quality compost or well aged livestock manure or a combination of the two. Apply a few pounds for each plant, each year or two. On poor soils, top dress every year or every other year on moderate quality soils. Spreading a 2-inch layer of mulch over the soil surrounding Heuchera helps insulate the soil during winter and improve moisture retention. About 3 inches of space between the plant's crown and the mulch allows air circulation, which prevents rotting and disease. Replenishing the mulch throughout the year ensures proper winter protection and hinders the establishment of competitive weeds. Heuchera does not require fertilization during the fall or winter months.
Winterizing: Winter mulching will prevent the freezing and thawing that can heave plants roots.
Maintenance & Pruning: Cut back the entire flower stalk after flowering, to put the plants energy into growing more leaves. Divide Coral bells every 3-5 years, to keep them from dying out in the center.
ReviewsWrite a reviewWonderful plants.Kristen DeP | Jun 30, 2015I just wanted to thank you for the amazing and beautiful, excellent quality plants I received from you. The front of my home faces northand I can never find beautiful shade plants in my local nurseries. The only mildly interesting plants I could ever find were Hostas. That is,until I find your website! I was so shocked that so many beautiful plants and flowers were available for shade! I've ordered plants online before and have always been disappointed. Ieither receive bare root plants that are dead by the time I receive them, or they're packaged so badly they arrive crushed and mangled, or they're so tiny they rarely take and when they do it takes forever to grow into something you can see. I was so shocked and surprised how beautiful the plants were that you shipped me! They were packaged really well, they were established, they were moist and in awesome condition! Thank you so much for providing such quality plants! You have earned yourself a customer for life! Keep up the great work and know that your efforts are appreciated. I feel it's important to let companies know when they're doing a great job and you guys are doing a STELLAR job. (And I've told ALL my friends and neighbors about your site!)
