Plant Spacing

Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:

Description 'Palace Purple' coral bells (Heuchera) may not have the darkest leaves on the market, but it is one of the most reliable performers! Sprays of tiny white flowers float above masses of olive-green to purple foliage. It is more vigorous than most, filling in quickly to give a lush look. Nothing slows it down, including deer and rabbits. It persists through brutal winters without heaving or dying out. It's not only easy to grow but also requires very little maintenance to keep its appeal. These tough, weather-resistant plants are excellent for borders, foundations, rock gardens, edging, or used as a ground cover. They pair well with blues such as nepeta, caryopteris, festuca, or hydrangea. Mix and match with other colorful heucheras for a stunning display! Uses: Accents, Alpine and rock gardens, Borders, Containers, Edging, Ground cover, Massing, Small spaces, Underplanting, Woodland How To Grow Soil: Coral bells like a neutral to slightly acid soil pH, somewhere between 6.0 and 7.0. Good drainage is a must, especially in shaded areas.
Light: As a general rule, Heucheras do well in the shade, but some morning sun will bring out more intense coloring. Too much light will cause the leaves to scorch.
Water: Keep the soil evenly moist but not consistently wet to prevent root rot. To reduce the risk of foliar disease, water Heuchera during the early morning so excess moisture can evaporate by evening.
Spacing: 1.5 ft
Fertilizing: Fertilizing is generally unnecessary unless the soil is nutrient depleted. Consider applying compost to provide nutrients and organic matter. Avoid any fertilization in fall and winter.
Winterizing: Winter mulching will prevent the freezing and thawing that can kill plant roots.
Maintenance & pruning: Cut back the entire flower stalk after flowering to put the plant's energy into growing more leaves. Divide coral bells every 3-5 years to keep them from dying out in the center.

Very Pleased with the condition of the plants. They were much bigger than plants I have received from other companies. Deer ate one to the ground first night it was planted. I was excited to see it has come back and about 1/3 the original size.

Palace Purple Coral Bells

I bought 4 of these and they arrived carefully packed and looked very healthy from the get go. They add color and texture interest to my garden and I’m happy that’s it’s hardy enough and will not need a lot fussing over.

Coral belles didn’t succeed in this heat. I watered and planted them in shady areas but heat intense and they struggled. One died and the other tryin to remain alive. They get a bit of sun but also shade. My older coral belles thriving.

Five plant special order

Plants arrived in excellent condition and are healthy and attractive. The Pennisetum "Karley Rose" (oriental fountain grass) has yet to bloom and is a messy-looking plant, a bit disappointing. But otherwise, very pleased with the plants.
