Description

Glam up your garden with Pearl Glam® beautyberry (Callicarpa sp.) Living up to its name,  with dramatic dark purple foliage, bright white flowers, and thousands of orchid-pink berries in autumn, this is one beautiful plant. Compared to more conventional beautyberries, Pearl Glam® sets itself apart with its unique purple foliage, space-saving habit, and it's showy nature that starts well before fall! Add bold, deer resistant color to your landscape! Its upright habit makes it perfect as a border plant, but it looks lovely in a container too! While Pearl Glam® looks striking in spring and summer, we do think it looks especially stunning when paired with the red and orange hues of fall.

How to Grow

Soil: Beautybush is tolerant of a wide range of soil and tolerates drought once established (after 1-2 seasons in the ground).
Light: Full sun (6+ hrs/day).
Water: Moderate water is all that's required.
Space: 2-3 feet apart
Fertilizing: Little fertilizer is needed. If little new growth emerges in spring, a bit of granular rose fertilizer can help it rebound more quickly.
Winterizing: A 2-3" layer of shredded bark mulch is a good idea in winter, especially in colder parts of its range. Leave plant intact over winter.
Maintenance: Wait until new growth begins to emerge in spring to determine whether or not pruning is required. Plant may experience some dieback in cold climates, so cut above where new growth is emerging. May be pruned in spring in warm climates as well since it blooms and fruits on new wood.

12 Garden Plants That Flourish In Full Sun

Finding the right plants for your garden is crucial to achieving the garden of your dreams, and when it comes to plants that love the full sun (6+ hours of sun/day), there’s a wide variety of options to choose from. Here, you’ll find our list of our favorite full-sun garden plants.

Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:

Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:
