Plant Spacing

Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:

Description Enjoy one of the most spectacular autumn displays with Brandywine™ viburnum (Viburnum nudum). You simply must grow this durable native plant to believe it! Spring brings the emergence of very glossy leaves, and is soon followed by foamy white flower clusters. They develop into green berries, and as summer progresses, turn to a luminous ivory color. By early autumn, they begin to flush bright pink and ripen to blue-purple, creating a mixed color effect that becomes even more stunning when the foliage turns bright red. This Proven Winners selection does not require a pollinator to develop berries, so you only need to plant one. That makes it beautifully suited to specimen planting, but it’s also great in multiples as a hedge or backdrop to a perennial garden. Looks very healthy and its already on the geound. Luckily, I’ve had rain since planting it, so it was sent at the oerfect time (which is very hard to get in Nebraska). I look forward to its growth, changing leaf color, and hopefully seeing a variety of birds on it once it’s big enough to produce the berries!

well, I tackled a new area this year. the dead dry place next to pond. I rototilled, amended soil, landscape cloth, drip system and the I put 3 of these intermixed with another 3 Double Play Big Bang® Spirea that I ordered. All arrived healthy and they got into the ground about a week after arriving.
I appreciate the thoughtfulness of the packaging. I know some have complained but the genius way the plastic bag is covering the soil and keeping the plant IN the container along with what moisture can be trapped is appreciated.

Exciting shrub!
