Plant soil

The soil was so dry that we hope the plants make it.

My Chechmark Trilogy Weigela

When I received it, (Spring 2021) it was packaged nicely and was looking nice and healthy. I bought the 1-gallon size plant.
It is planted in a spot that gets mostly afternoon sun on the west side of the house near the foundation, and so far seems to be doing well, however I haven’t noticed a whole lot of growth yet. Probably still settling in. It’s only been a couple of weeks since planted. We made quite a large hole and loosened all the soil. I added some compost and manure mixed into the native soil, and some fertilizer. Planted the shrub and backfilled. I am watering it daily right now as we are in a hot spell here in Wisconsin, to keep it moist. Next Spring is when I expect to see some flowering. I can’t wait to see the beautiful colors of this Weigela! Only 4 stars for now, until I see how it performs.
