Description
Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

I bought one plant this year, split it into 5 different pieces and planted in different spots in my garden. They are all doing fantastic, and the two biggest pieces have doubled in size since the first week in July. The plant was in really great shape when it arrived, and although I had it for approximately 4 or 5 weeks before I got it into the ground, it stayed in really good condition. I will definitely order from Great Garden Plants again!!
So far my feathered friends are happy! Plants arrived in excellent condition and were big & lush! Can't wait to see how they respond to the different seasons. I would definitely use this company again.
You requested my thoughts so heres my story.
I ordered over $100.00 in plantings. I took a chance after reading about the company. I requested when I would I get my order, because the temp climbed to over 90! I was worried my plants would get stuck somewhere in a ups truck baking for who knows how long! I needed to know exactly when they would arrive. GGP gave me a tracking number and followed up. Both of us were following up and aware when the order was to come in. That was 1/2 the relief. The next concern was how much triage I would need to do after my new plants arrived. Well, Upon arrival I opened my boxes of plants and wow I almost fell off my chair, I was so impressed with the beautiful way everything was packed and all the plants were in super condition. Im also impressed the plants were still moist and in super condition. I quickly unwrapped them. And as directions requested to let your new plants acclimate I did that. Meanwhile The weather got more brutal more humid and stayed over 90! I put my plants on my balcony in the shade almost full shade, kept them watered and after 2 weeks I put them in the ground in a shaded spot and kept them watered. All are doing great! The plants are filling out now. I know It was risky business planting so late in the season but its working out well. I will be buying from GGP for sure. I have rarely been this successful with mail order plants as I have with GGP im super excited! Looking toward the fall and thinking about what I will buy for next year!
Thank you GGP for your super healthy plants and your amazing packing, shipping and customer service.
Plants arrived in fantastic shape! I admit I was a bit skeptical about mail order plants. Anyway, they are in my landscaping and doing just great. They have already grown in size. I am very satisfied. Your offerings beat most of the types, price and health of plants from local garden outlets here. I will definitely be ordering more from you.
My plants came healthy and they are thriving and very happy. My favorite place to order plants
