Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

DescriptionIgnite your garden with the fiery, brilliant hues of Forever® Red coral bells (Heuchera). This new coral bells has a low mounding habit, reaching only 7" tall with ruffled, somewhat cut leaves. Although smaller in size to other red forms, it develops more crowns for a fuller look in the garden. The best part is that the foliage color never fades, earning this heuchera the name Forever® Red.
This shade groundcover is superior to other varieties with color-fast foliage, vigorous crowning habit, and higher tolerance of sun exposure. Plus, maintenance is a breeze. Try planting it in combination planters, mixed beds, or in masses!
Insider tip: the leaves last for more than two weeks when cut, making it a great addition to arrangements!DetailsBotanical name:Heuchera 'Forever Red' Patent #: PP29644 Common name: Coral bells Zone: 4 - 9 Sun exposure: Shade (< 4 hours sun) to part-sun (4-6 hours sun) Height x width: 7" x 14" Flower color: Pink Foliage color: Red Season of interest: Spring through fall Bloom time:Summer Features:Winter interest, rare & unusual, rabbit resistant, native, heat tolerant, deer resistant, container plants, cold tolerant, best sellers, best for beginners Uses: Accent, Border, Container gardening, Edging, Ground cover, Massing, Small spaces, Under planting, Woodland How To GrowSoil: Coral bells like a neutral to slightly acid soil pH, somewhere between 6.0 and 7.0. Good drainage is a must, especially in shaded areas. Light: As a general rule, Heucheras do well in the shade, but some morning sun will bring out more intense coloring. Too much light will cause the leaves to scorch. Water: Keep the soil evenly moist but not consistently wet to prevent root rot. To reduce the risk of foliar disease, water Heuchera during the early morning so excess moisture can evaporate by evening. Spacing: 14" Fertilizing: Fertilizing is generally unnecessary unless the soil is nutrient depleted. Consider applying compost to provide nutrients and organic matter. Avoid any fertilization in fall and winter. Winterizing: Winter mulching will prevent the freezing and thawing that can kill plant roots. Maintenance & pruning: Cut back the entire flower stalk after flowering to put the plant's energy into growing more leaves. Divide coral bells every 3-5 years to keep them from dying out in the center.
The coral bells arrived in excellent condition: healthy, well-rooted and a generous size. They are doing well in a border planting next to my driveway. Everything I have ordered from Great Garden Plants has exceeded expectations.

Coral Bell Purchase
2 of the 5 Coral Bells we received were fine and are now doing well in the ground. The remaining 3 however, looked like they were older, grown stock and did not survive the trip to our home. I sent pictures to the company and they refunded my order cost for those 3 plants. Thank you very much!

Arrived beautiful but died.
Better packaging than all the other nurseries but after a month, it like the others, died. I'm an experienced gardener thus provided the plants with optimal care.
