Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

Planted the plant immediately, it is still green but does not apprear have grown at all.
Hi Arlo. The fact that it is still green is a good sign, it could just be adjusting to its new environment. If you are finding that the plant still isn't taking, then please email pictures of the plants to email@example.com, making sure to put your order number and name in the subject line. Rest assured, we have a 60-day guarantee on all our plants. If you received your plants within that timeframe, we will apply your warranty once we receive the pictures. https://bit.ly/ggp-guarantee
LOVE LOVE this garden center. Second time i have ordered and the plants are beautiful and packaged so nicely. Can’t wait to see them grow up.
I received 3 of these along with a bunch of rudbeckia and coneflowers. The other plants in my order looked great, but these were sickly and heavily damaged. Most of the leaves had yellow and black blotches and breakage. I'm not sure if this was pest damage or a bacterial issue, but they were not healthy. I sent pictures and was refunded immediately, but it makes me hesitant to order again. I'd rather have received healthy replacements, but was not given the option.
I'm sorry your plants arrived in poor condition, it certainly sounds like they don't meet our standards either. Working with live plants can be finicky, but thankfully our 60-day guarantee covers all orders, so we are more than happy to make this right if you'd like to try again. As avid gardeners, we want to make sure everyone has the best experience! It sounds like you already contact our customer service team for assistance, but if you have any other questions or concerns, please let us know.
I received my luminary ultraviolet tall phlox packaged very well and healthy. I planted them and watered them properly. It's been about a month, and they have rooted in and are growing beautifully. As a result, I placed another order for the coral colored tall phlox. I just received those and will be planted those soon.
Big healthy plants. Twice the size of other well known companies.
