This striking new evergreen beauty from Proven Winners® ColorChoice Shrubs features ruffled bi-colored flowers that bloom and rebloom year-round, making it perfect for adding a pop of color to sunny borders and hedges. The vibrant red-pink blooms are contrasted by unique white striping, acting as a beacon of light for pollinators like butterflies, who can’t get enough of the nectar-rich flowers. ¡OLÉ!™ has also showcased excellent deer-resistance in the landscape, so much so that it's certified Deer Proof™ by Proven Winners® ColorChoice Shrubs.

How to Grow

Soil: Grow well in any moist, well-draining soil, even areas with poor soils.
Light: Sun (> 6 hours sun).
Water: Average water needs, but can withstand some periods of drought once established.
Space: Minimum 4’ apart
Fertilizing: Fertilizing is not necessary. In fact, fertilizing may cause the plant to push out more foliage than flowers.
Winterizing: Laying down a 2-3" layer of mulch at the base can help keep the plant more moist.
Maintenance: Little pruning is required, but if necessary, take special precautions to handle all waste - it is toxic.

Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:

bush distance

Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:
