Description
Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

Do you dream of a flower-filled landscape or garden with never-ending beauty? We do, too: that’s why we’ve compiled a list of our favorite long-blooming shrubs! Start your planting with these ten flowering shrubs that provide months instead of weeks of colorful blooms.
All came beautifully wrapped, were healthy green bushes and have been in the ground now for 3 weeks. Looking good. Can’t wait for them to grow up into adults and flower
The plants arrived in great condition. They have been in my garden in pots and so far they are still looking beautiful.
Healthy
Loved great garden plants in the past. Ordered in June, looked good coming in and while waiting in the garage for planting on the next weekend. Two days after planting, all leaves started falling off and now just three dark brown stalks remain. Fault was probably my own by choosing a bad planting time and unluckiness. It came in looking great and healthy though.
Hello! Summer can definitely be a tricky time to plant, especially if you're gardening in warmer zones. Received the plants and was very disappointed. Pictures deceiving. Show nice color, much more mature. These plants won't flower this year, probably not even next year. So small someone actually stepped on one not seeing it. Shipping high to go 20 miles. Mistake. Will never again order outdoor plants online.
Hello! Thank you for your feedback. As mentioned on our website, we ship young plants with well established root systems. It's hard to say for certain how quickly your new plant will grow since so many factors - like weather, soil type, watering, and fertilizing - all come into play. Perhaps you're familiar with the old saying about plants: first year sleep, second year creep, third year leap. This applies to plants in the garden center as well as plants you purchase online. They generally spend their first year growing roots in their new home, the second year they have more energy to put into growth, and the third year, they are growing and flowering vigorously. If you have any concerns, please reach out to us at info@greatgardenplants.com and we can further assist. Happy Gardening!
