Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

My Holy Grail hibiscus is doing just fine. I will be so glad when it is really big.
I’ve never ordered plants online before. So far, it has been a pleasant experience with Great Gardens. I ordered 3 Summerific Holy Grail plants after seeing them on an online vlog. It was buy 2 plants get a lavender plant free. You can’t beat free plants. They arrived in a timely manner and thankfully made it to Houston in this excessive heat. They were healthy, happy, and still moist upon arrival. Unfortunately, the lavender did not make it. It was not in the best shape when it arrived. I think it got too humid in the packaging. I attempted to save it, but it spontaneously combusted after being in our heat for a day. Oh well, it was free! My main concern was the plants I paid for. They are thriving right now on our covered patio. When it cools off a bit I will prep them for planting. I was so impressed with packaging I ordered 3 for my dad. He said one of his was a little weak upon arrival, but he is giving it time to adjust before planting. I appreciated the magazine included in my packaging and all the coupons that I’ve received since my order. You guys really know how to reel in the crazy plant people. 😉
Shipping was very quick. When I received my plants, I found them to be securely packaged and very healthy. Thanks to more summer rain than usual, they took off very well. They bloomed right at planting and a second round of blooms soon.
So glad I purchased this Holly grail hibiscus !
It’s a wonderful addition to the yard and I can’t wait to purchase many more! Absolutely
