Description
Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

Weigela is a deciduous shrub that has quickly become one of the most popular landscape plants on the market today. It’s easy to see why it’s so popular: weigela is easy to grow, deer-resistant, versatile, and has vibrant blooms that attract pollinators like a magnet. Here, we’ll show you how to grow and care for weigela shrubs and answer your frequently asked questions.
So far, so good. Weather has oscillated between extreme wet and extreme hot and they are still hanging in there.
All perfectly healthy.
Beautiful plants! Arrived in good condition. Nice sized plants that are doing nicely. The summer heat has now cooked the leaves even though I have kept them irrigated. Hope this plant recovers!
All 8 of my Wine & Spirits Weigela arrived in their infamous well packaged boxes, in perfect condition, and a hearty size. They have been thriving in the ground now for 3 weeks and already the majority of their leaves have turned the plum/black color I was anticipating. I followed the planting and care instructions provided in the shipment to a T. The weigela have already grown in size and bulk. I have purchased many plants from Great Gardens Plants and all have been a success so far! Thank you so much!!
