Plant Spacing

Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:

Not happy at all with the big second round of ordering. I cancelled all that I could for the rest of the tree’s. When we first started this project earlier this year, the tree’s came in at the range in the description. Had a couple of issues with them but over all healthy and good size. This round of shipping the tree’s were very small and thin and had to still get replacements. I’ve provided feedback multiple times about how the boxes are thin and not well protected. They ship with FedEx which is awful and always damages the boxes but they don’t seem to care to change anything. Also, when the tree’s are put into the boxes they bend and break the leaders. With that, branches come damaged each time and you always have to expect and replacement… Crazy how they’re so okay with replacing tree’s knowing they’re being shipped short, thin, weak and damaged. Very sad as this was the best deal for these tree’s as I even recommend other tree’s to an individual. Sadly, I will never order American Pillars from this company again and will be looking at other companies if I need more.

Great Price, Good Trees

Ordered 30 of these. Most were too tall for the shipping boxes and came with the tops significantly bent. Also the majority were root bound in the container. But with that said, some TLC and 2.5 months later 29 of the 30 are still alive. Refund process for the dead tree was a breeze. I cut the outer bound roots to loosen the root ball when planting and stake/roped off the bent trees. Almost every tree has fully straightened out and most have already grown more than expected for the first year. Quite surprised how quickly these adapted and starting growing at a fast rate right after planting. Overall really can't complain, such a great price is compared to other companies.
