Plant Spacing

Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:

Description This hard-working evergreen ground cover is a handsome, low-maintenance way to keep down weeds. Growing well in sun, shade, or anywhere in between, we especially love it with spring-flowering bulbs like crocus and daffodils planted beneath to provide peeks of color in April and May.

 How To Grow Soil: Prefers moist, well-drained, but tolerates a wide range of soils, even poor and sandy/dry, if regularly watered during times of drought. Does not tolerant extremely wet conditions.

Water: Best with regular water - weekly, or more often in extreme heat. Tolerates dry shade once plants are established.
Spacing: 12 to 18 inches apart.
Fertilizing: If desired, fertilize in early spring with a slow-release fertilizer for trees and shrubs.
Winterizing: Nothing special required. In severe winters, evergreen foliage may get damaged, but fresh new growth will replace it in spring.

Please don't spread this invasive plant!

As several others have already said, this plant is invasive in North America, devastating to yards and gardens, and terribly difficult to eradicate. Just a tiny piece left behind can take root, and a stump where a vine has been cut will send out new shoots every year. The tough stems will choke out tender plants. The seller says they only ship it to states where it's not prohibited--great, so they're helping to create a problem in places where it's not yet a problem, or where the state hasn't yet decided to take action to eliminate the problem. How do you think this plant took over people's yards in the first place? This plant is native to Asia. It's irresponsible to plant it anywhere in America.

I'm sorry that you have had trouble with Wintercreeper in your garden. The wintercreeper plants arrived safely - I really appreciated the way they were packed, including the instructions for handling after they arrived.
