Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

PA sedge plants arrived in great condition, and they look good, with very little care, on the shady slope where I planted them. The proof will be in the pudding next spring, of course, but if these are thriving, I shall order more. Thx!
My problem is less with the sedge itself than it is with the lack of response from customer service. I ordered a dozen plants - eight of them are doing okay; four show no sign of life at all. I sent an inquiry and got zero response.
Hello Robin! I'm sorry to hear you haven't hear back from anyone on our team. We're happy to replace or refund those four plants that didn't survive. If you ever have any issues with your order reach out to our claims team at email@example.com or give us a call at 877-447-4769 and we'll be happy to help you. We look forward to helping you!
My plants arrived quickly and were very healthy. They've been planted for about a month and they are thriving. Thank you!!! :)
I am looking forward to the grasses spreading over time and making the shaded areas lush and beautiful looking!
