Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. Unhappy little plant

We set it aside out of direct sun, wind and rain for 48 hours.
We gave it a drink of water.
Then we planted it in full sun.
It is still struggling to thrive.
July was very hot in New England and we watered it but it looks sad.
Maybe Autumn will bring new growth.
