Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

DescriptionNothing looks like summer quite like Wheels of Wonder®' Hot Pink Wonder' ice plant. These large flowers embody the festivities of summer, with white centers turning to bright yellow and hot pink petals. Succulent leaves create a thick carpet that can thrive in the hottest part of your garden and choke out any weeds lying beneath. Quick growing, drought-resistant and heat-tolerant, this groundcover will provide a carpet of florescent color all summer long!
We're delighted to offer the new series Wheels of Wonder® ice plants (or Delosperma ) for two main reasons: their larger flowers and incredibly long bloom time! Enjoy colorful bi-color flowers for up to 5 months without any maintenance to keep them blooming. They open their flowers during the day but close them at night, so early risers can watch them bloom each morning. Try planting them in masses for a thick groundcover, in containers for a sunny patio, or as a pop of color in rock gardens. Mix and match the six colors in the series or opt for a monochromatic ground cover. Either way, there will be plenty of flowers to shine all summer long.
