Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

Got these last year on sale. They were nibbled at by the bunnies at first so I covered them with cloches so they could focus on root growth. This year they came back with a vengeance and now that they are so robust and not "baby" leaves the bunnies totally leave them alone. They are doing amazing and have been gorgeous all season so far!!! I love it when GGP go right! Color is also almost exact to photos on website.
Both plants I purchased are doing well. Arrived to Minnesota in good condition, planted well, appear to be healthy and thriving.
When I ordered cloudburst phlox I was expecting a small gnarly looking plant that I would have to nurse back to health. I was wrong. I received 2 healthy, well packed plants that were a descent size. The plants can even had flowers on it. My friends and neighbors were all surprised how healthy my plants were especially coming through the mail. I have ordered plants from other stores online before and this was by far the best experience and healthiest plants. I would order again.
Very pretty plants. Have to stop and admire each time I walk by
Burst of color
I planted these beauties about 1 month ago, pairing three of them with sensational lavender in 3 large containers. Starting to see color. Yay. The several I planted in the ground are bursting too. I love them with my luminary tall phlox I the garden too.
