Plant Spacing

Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:

Winterizing: Plants may get some damage in winter, which can be exacerbated by wet soil conditions.
Maintenance & pruning: Remove faded flowers to promote continued bloom. Prune once or twice a year to keep the plant shapely. Prune option #1: in the spring after the lavender wakes up. Wait until the lavender has signs of new growth (do not worry if it takes a while to wake up).

Fantastic

I ordered and received my plants in 2021. I have 6 plants along a short section of sidewalk. I saw some complaints that the plants are small but I have ordered from Great Garden Plants before and knew about the size of plant I would be receiving. I don't mind getting a plant that is a little smaller to start because they don't stay that way for long and I can get exactly what I want when I can't find it locally. I planted mine in area that gets about 5-6 hours of sun but it is during the hottest part of the day. I watered them in well upon planting and then made sure they got about an inch or so of water each week either from me or mother nature until they were established. They put on some nice growth last year and this year again have bulked up even more. I'm particularly looking forward to next year which will be their "leap" year. They flushed out nicely earlier this season and I sheared them back when most of the blooms were spent and they are getting ready to flush again. I already have another project in mind for next year where I'm going to be using these again.
