Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

If you're looking to extend your gardening season well into fall, try planting Fall in Love™ 'Sweetly' Japanese Anemone (Anemone hybrid)! Semi-double, rose-pink flowers bloom above mounds of dark green foliage, just as it feels like the season is coming to an end. The flowers make a big presence, even though this perennial is a little shorter in size compared to the massive 'Honorine Jobert' anemone.
You may think of anemones as a spring-bloomer, but Japanese anemones flower in late summer and fall. Just as your other perennials start to fade, Japanese anemones shine with tall stems and satiny flowers. They're a magnet for pollinators - and thankfully, they remain unbothered by deer and rabbits. They're easy to grow, making them even easier to love in your landscape, containers, or cut arrangements.
Great garden tip: be patient in spring! They're a bit slow to rise in spring but arrive just in time to fill in around dying spring bulbs.
I ordered these plants in early August, and picked them up at GGP. The pick-up was easy and convenient, and the plants were in great shape. Got them in the ground never thinking they would bloom this fall already! But they are loaded with flowers - so pretty!
The plants were large and in very good condition when they arrived. They now have big buds that appear ready to open. Our days here in Wisconsin have turned cooler and the nights are close to freezing so the buds are slow to open. I am very impressed with this purchase and will make Great Garden Plants my “go to” online greenhouse in the future. Thank you!
It arrived in good shape but struggled with transplanting. It is trying to recover still, weeks later.

The color is actually more purple than the pink in the picture. Was looking for a warm pink.
