More Information

Description Fairytrail Bride™ Cascade Hydrangea™ (Hydrangea x) is the first cascading hydrangea to come to North America. This new class of hydrangea has unrivaled flower power and a cascading habit. White florets bloom prolifically along trailing stems, creating a romantic display. One look, and you'll be saying "I do" to this shrub! The cascading, mid-sized habit of this hydrangea is ideal for mixed beds, containers, and even hanging baskets. Fairytrail Bride™ Cascade Hydrangea™ was introduced by Ushio Sakazaki, a renowned breeder from Japan. It has already earned accolades as the Plant of the Year at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2018. We're sure it will be a winner in your garden, too! Details Botanical name: Hydrangea x 'USHYD0405'
Patent: PP31120
Common name: Cascading hydrangea
Zone: 6 – 9
Sun exposure: Sun (> 6 hours sun) to part sun (4-6 hours sun)
Height x width: 4′ tall x 4′ wide
Flower color: White
Foliage color: Green
Season of interest: Spring through summer
Uses: Hedge, Edging, Landscaping, Wildlife gardens, Native plant gardens
How To Grow Soil: Average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Mulch to conserve moisture and buffer soil temperatures.
Light: Most varieties tolerate full sun in the North, but benefit from afternoon shade and consistent moisture. In the South, plants require afternoon shade.
Water: Water to keep soil moist, but not wet.
Spacing: 4 feet
Fertilizing: Fertilize once in spring with a granular rose fertilizer. Make a second application in early summer if desired.
Winterizing: Do not prune. A 2-3″ layer of shredded bark mulch is sufficient winter protection.
Maintenance & Pruning: Avoid pruning except to remove any obviously dead wood in spring, when the new growth has emerged. This type of hydrangea blooms on old wood, so it’s best to avoid pruning it for the most flowers and best performance. Mature plants may be selectively thinned, removing one-third of the oldest branches each late winter

Fairy Trail Bride Hydrangeas

I received my hydrangeas a month ago in July when our temps were in the 90's (zone 8B). I was a little worried about planting them outside in the heat. I placed them in a window that gets filtered sun and watered them thoroughly. After 24 hours I planted them in pots where they get about 4 hours of sun a day and make sure they don't dry out. They are looking healthy, no blooms yet but I really wasn't expecting them to bloom this year.

I am sad to say that both of the hydrangea died. I have no idea why. My yard is full of beautifully hydrangeas. I believe the two that I ordered were in shock when they arrived. I didn't want to go through the hassle of proving that I was not at fault. I just counted my experience as as a loss.

Hello! We're so sorry to hear that you had trouble with your new hydrangeas. Depending on how far away you are from our nursery in Michigan can definitely be a factor. Regardless of how your plants died, we stand by our 60-day guarantee. Please email pictures of the plants to claims@greatgardenplants.com, making sure to put your order number and name in the subject line so that we may provide the best assistance possible. Rest assured, we do have a 60-day guarantee on all of our plants. If you received your plants within that timeframe, we will be happy to apply your warranty once we receive the pictures.
