Description
Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

While vines may look effortless as they scamper over structures, many of them benefit from extra training to grow just the way you like. We'll break it down for each type, and even include examples from some of our great gardeners.
I’ve moved many times and I’ve purchased Zepherine DROUHIN to climb arbors at 4 homes. Always a great performer, healthy, no thorns! And profusely blooms with a slight scent that is great. These roses grow fast! The ones I bought here (4) to climb the trellis at our newly built forever home arrived safely, well packed and looking great. Now to be honest, these are the smallest Zepherines I’ve ever bought. I planted them immediately in a trench I dug along the bottom of the trellis, 4 in a row. The soil was amended with a mixture of “ Black Kow” denatured manure and a light garden soil. Our soil here in North Georgia is red clay, so I’m also careful to use some pea gravel beneath every planting to be sure they f do not sit in water. These little Zepherines already have new growth! I love these roses and have high hopes for them in the spring!
Plant arrived in excellent shape and is happy in my garden.
Visiting in Grand Rapids. Drove to your address to purchase plants. I found no retail store???
Hello! We unfortunately do not have a retail store, as we are only selling online at this time. Hope this helps, happy gardening!
The smell of this rose is out of this world. I love it. The foliage also makes wonderful greenery in bouquets!
Received the Zéphirine Drouhin' Climbing Rose in perfect condition, with not one leaf wilted nor 1 branch broken. It has been extremely hot and I was worried that it would arrive affected. But it was in perfect condition. I am taking good care of it until I can remove the current lovely but unscented climbing rose that this beauty will replace. This company and plants is highly recommended.
