Description
Plant spacing is based on the ultimate width of the plants. This figure is normally given as a range; for example, 3-5’. If you live in a cold climate and/or want plants to fill in more quickly, plan to space at the shorter end of the range. If you live in a warm climate, are on a limited budget, or are willing to wait longer for plants to touch, use the higher end of the range. Using the larger number is recommended when calculating distance from a building or structure. There’s really no such thing as "maximum spacing": if you don’t want your plants to touch, you can space them as far apart as you’d like. All plant spacing is calculated on center, or in other words, the centers of the plants are spaced one half of their eventual width apart:
Unless you are planting in a straight line, as you might for hedges or edging, space your plants in a staggered or zig-zag pattern for a more interesting and naturalistic look:

Ornamental grasses are invaluable additions to the landscape, but we don’t think they get enough credit. They rustle in the breeze, produce plumes of flowers, and add interest through the winter. What’s not to love? No matter the unique landscape goal, these ornamental grasses are approved by Great Garden Plants horticulturists to be a great addition to your garden.
Can’t wait to see how it does in the spring. The colors on the blades are all so pretty with lovely variations.
This was a really problem area outside our basement window, but turned out really nice and the garden critters are very happy
I bought 5 of these in Sept ‘21 and planted along a brick walkway. They are now full size and beautiful. And the deer leave them alone.

Hello! Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you are disappointed in your plant. As mentioned on our website, we ship young plants with well established root systems. Plant size varies widely depending on the variety that you purchase and the time of year. The important thing when it comes to purchasing plants, whether online or in a garden center, is that they have a full, robust root system, and that's what we prioritize in our growing. The more roots a plant has, the more energy it can put into growing once it is planted in your garden. As this plant establishes itself in your garden, it will be 18' tall x 14' wide at maturity. Happy Gardening!
Everglow sedge is beautiful because of the colors and a great companion for the shade perennials I planted in my shade garden.
