Located in Grand Haven, Michigan, our plants are carefully selected, expertly packaged, and ready to find their new home in your garden. What products do you offer?

We specialize in a wide variety of sun perennials, shade perennials, long-blooming roses, colorful heucheras, durable coneflowers, & drought-proof sedum and sempervivum. We also have a wide selection of shrubs and hedge plants, and fast-growing ground covers for sun or shade.

One Quart Pots This extra-deep jumbo 1-quart pot ensures that your plants get off to a strong start by allowing a vigorous & robust root system. At Great Garden Plants, our larger-than-normal Jumbo 1-Quart pots ensure your gardening success & every plant is backed by our No Risk Guarantee!

Two Quart Pots (1/2 gallon pots) - This extra-deep jumbo 2-quart pot encourages vigorous plants with a heavy root system.

1 Gallon Pots.   Most of our hedge trees are grown in this larger pot size. Ready to give you fast results in your landscape.

3 1/2" pots.  Available for sedums and succulents, offering high quality at a value price.

How are your plants grown?

Our container-grown perennials and shrubs are grown in our climate-controlled greenhouses in Western Michigan. They have been in a cool greenhouse and can withstand some light frost (30-32°F). We try to keep our plants cool so they can better adjust to their new outdoor environment, especially early in the season.


Do you offer any kind of discount codes?

While we pride ourselves on quality and value, we do occasionally offer discount codes for even greater savings. The best way to find out about them is to sign up for our informative e-newsletter. You'll not only get advance notice of sales and offers, you'll also learn a lot about plants and gardening!


Where can you ship to?

We ship to the contiguous 48 states.

However, a few plants are restricted and cannot be shipped to certain states. Please check the product page for any relevant restrictions for that plant.

Our shipping team is committed to providing the service for our customers, keeping costs low while still providing the careful packaging and rapid shipping that plants require. Our 2020 shipping charges are as follows:

How do you ship my order?

Orders to the 48 contiguous states are delivered by Fed Ex Home Delivery. We've had great results with Fed Ex and think they do the best job in keeping your plants safe during transit.

Your shipping charges will automatically compute during checkout prior to the completion of your order.


Can I combine multiple orders to qualify for free shipping?

During periods where we are offering a free shipping promotion, it is possible to combine orders to qualify. However, please call us at 877-447-4769 to add items so that we can apply the discount.


When will I receive my order?

We will select, pack, and ship your order within 2-3 days when order is placed, once your growing zone is opened for the season. All orders ship directly from our dock in west Michigan.


Does Great Garden Plants have a guarantee?

We want you to be fully satisfied with every item that you purchase from us. All of our plants are backed by our 30 Day Risk Free Guarantee:

We guarantee that you will be totally satisfied with your purchase and that your plants will arrive healthy, pest & disease free and true to name.  If for any reason you are not satisfied, notify us within 30 days of receipt of purchase and we will refund your order.

Fall Guarantee

The warranty on plants shipped in fall extends to May 31 of the following year.  However, please inform us within seven days of receipt of any issues or concerns so that we may make a note of it then. Our fall guarantee does not cover plants that are not hardy in your location, so please verify your USDA hardiness zone before ordering. If you have any questions, give us a call and we can help you determine if the plant you want will survive winter in your area.

Our Larger Root Systems

We ship jumbo size plants with hefty root systems that out-perform smaller plants shipped by other companies.


We take great pride in our packaging.  Please contact us immediately for any damaged boxes or shortages.  (Please note: multiple boxes shipped by Fed Ex might not always arrive the same day)

Dormant Plants

Any plant shipped dormant in the spring is guaranteed to break dormancy even if it takes more than one month.  Call us right away with any concerns.


At times, we might graciously ask for photos to provide the best assistance possible


A plant refund is based on the plant cost less discounts and shipping charges.  Allow up to 2 weeks for processing.  We reserve the right to request a return of an item.

Product Care

After 30 days, we cannot be responsible for product that is in your care.  This includes overwintering, animals, insects, diseases, poor planting, plants beyond their hardiness zone, drought, flooding, etc.  Our expert staff is here to assist you with any problem you may be experiencing.  Our goal is that you are successful with our product.  


I placed an order and would like to add to or change it. How do I do that?

If you would like to make changes to an existing order, please call us at 877-447-4769. Changes can be made up until one week before your order ships. If you selected a ship date within three business days of the date you placed your order, we are unable to accommodate any changes, including cancellations.


What should I do if something is wrong with my order when it arrives?

If boxes arrive damaged, please take photos of the damage and call (877-447-4769) or e-mail us for further instructions. If you have any concerns about the condition of the plants, take photos and contact us as soon as possible.


Do you print a catalog?

No. Instead, we pass the savings on to you here on our website.
