Amsonia hubrichtii Description
AVAILABLE EARLY APRIL 2020!
Looking for the total package? Meet threadleaf bluestar (Amsonia hubrichtii)! This fabulous native perennial provides season long interest, starting in spring when clusters of pale blue, star-shaped flowers arrive and draw in butterflies and caterpillars that use it as a nectar source or host plant. After flowers fade, its bushy and fine textured habit is prominent, making it a great companion to coarsely textured plants like heucheras or hostas. The biggest show is saved for fall, when its bright green, needle-like foliage changes to breathtaking clear yellow - absolutely gorgeous when planted in groups! All the while it is low maintenance, as it needs little supplemental water after establishing and due to the latex sap within its stems and leaves it is rarely disfigured by rabbits and deer. Any garden could benefit from threadleaf bluestar’s ability to instantly add texture, movement, and full season interest!
