Symphoricarpos Proud Berry® Description

Proud Berry® coralberry (Symphoricarpos sp.) will give you so much, yet requires so little! This unassuming shrub looks perfectly pretty all season, with blue-green coin-shaped leaves. Come late summer, bell-shaped pink blooms begin to adorn the ends of the branches. In short time, they develop into amazing, bubble-like pink berries. They’re the last thing you’d expect to see in autumn, and they bring so much color and interest to the landscape!

Soil:  Not finicky about soil, as long as it is well drained.  
Light: Full sun (6+ hrs/day) to part shade (4-6 hrs of sun/day). Can grow in more shade, but will be less full and have fewer flowers and berries.
Water:  Average.
Space:  Min 4' apart.
Fertilizing:  Little needed. Apply a granular rose fertilizer in early spring if desired..
Winterizing:  A good 2-3" layer of mulch is recommended
Maintenance:  For the best flowering and fruiting, cut shrub back by about half its total height each year in early spring.
