Abelia Pinky Bells® Description

Attention, flower lovers: these bells are ringing for you! Pinky Bells abelia (Abelia zanderi x A. schumanii) boasts the largest flowers of any abelia on the market. The big, lavender-pink blooms dangle from the slender branches like ornaments, providing months of color from summer through fall. The plant itself grows as a neat, dense mound that's ideal for rock gardens, edging, and perennials gardens. Plant near a curve in the landscape bed to show off its shape to the very best advantage!

Soil:  Any average soil will do; avoid extreme wet or dry conditions. 
Light: Full sun (6+ hrs/day) to part shade (4-6 hours/day)
Water:  Moderate moisture; tolerates dry conditions once established, but flowering is best when not stressed

Fertilizing:  Seldom needed; apply a granular garden or rose fertilizer in early spring if desired
Winterizing:  A 2-3" layer of shredded bark mulch is recommended. In colder areas, site away from strong winds.
Maintenance:  Pinky Bells abelia blooms on new wood, so can be pruned in spring if desired. However, it naturally takes on a graceful, fountain-like habit that does not require regular pruning.
